A brief explanation of when a vehicle should be engineered if coil overs are fitted and when it is not required. It is Mainly aimed at Commodore Coil overs but is applicable to all Pedders Coil Over kits.
I have also attached the
Vicroads document relating to modification to suspension.
160094 and 161094 Coilover kits for VF Commodore sedan/Wagon and Ute.
The Pedders suspension coil over kit has not been altered from the original layout it is still a Mcpherson /Chapman strut layout and the type of suspension as described in Vicroads. (Please see excerpt below from Vicroads).
The rear coil over shock design as described by Vicroads is not applicable to the Pedders kit as they are describing a 4 link type setup that uses utilizes the type of suspension modification that has the coil /shock combined together and does away with a separate coil /shock arrangement . As they mention if this modification is done it will have to be engineered as the Shock Mounts were not designed to carry the load of the vehicle and would required strengthening
This does not apply to the Pedder VF Commodore kit as we are still utilising the same Load carrying points as the original layout which are designed to carry the loads of the v
